Apply to CMSP

We will begin recruiting the next cohort of scholars for the Region X California Medicine Scholars Program in September 2025.  

Applicant Requirements

All students interested in the Region X CMSP must meet the following requirements:

• Be currently enrolled at a Region X California Community College
  • Palomar College
  • MiraCosta College
  • Grossmont College
  • Cuyamaca College
  • San Diego City College
  • Mesa College
  • Miramar College
  • Southwestern College
  • Imperial Valley College
• Have completed or will have completed at least 12 California community college credits by December 31, 2025 at a Region X Community College 
• Are not currently enrolled at a four -year institution
• Have not earned an associate’s or bachelor’s degree as of Fall 2025
• Plan on transferring to a four year institution Fall 2027 or later (i.e. not submitting your transfer application the same Fall you apply to CMSP)

• Ties to San Diego/Imperial Counties (e.g., attended high school in the region, place of birth, parents’ residence and/or applicant’s residence)
• First generation
• Desires to serve the San Diego/Imperial Counties and/or the state upon completing medical school
• Have experienced economical, educational and/or indivuidual hardship

• One (1) letter of recommendation
• Personal statement pertaining to your advancement in medicine and this program
